BMW Manufacturing Corporation, BMW's first full U.S. manufacturing facility,
is the worldwide production home of the entire Z3 model line, the M coupe, M
roadster and the BMW's new Sports Utlity Vehicle, the X5. Located in
Spartanburg, South Carolina, the plant has doubled in size since opening in
1994. Fire protection for the facility is provided by the Pelham Batesville
Fire Department, in conjunction with on-site fire response from, a contract
fire crew with Omnisec, International- a Security and Facility Support
Services group, as well as an on-site Emergency Brigade manned by employees
of BMW.
As a part of BMW's corporate and community commitment, BMW provides the
Pelham Batesville Fire District with the use a BMW 525i series automobile
for use as a staff vehicle. Specifically the auto is used by the Fire Chief
in carrying out the duties of the Chief's position. The car is equipped as a
standard Business-class auto with standard equipment for that model. The
fire department adds LED front and rear warning lights, siren and speaker
package, and radio communications equipment. The vehicle also carries
medical first response and command equipment used by the Chief. The fire
district provides for tag, fuel, insurance and non-routine maintenance.
Routine maintenance is provided by Century BMW in Greenville. The use of the
vehicle has proven to be quite a conversation piece with local fire and

this service takes place shows the level of commitment that BMW makes to
give back to the community.
