The Leander Fire Department took delivery of this 2001 Navistar International Tanker from Pierce Manufacturing on June 8th. The apparatus is equipped with a 2,000 gallon elliptical tank, three Bray pneumatically operated dumps, and a 2,100 gallon drop tank. It is powered by a International DT 530E diesel engine with an Allison transmission. The pump is a Waterous 500 gpm midship mounted PTO pump. It has three NFPA color-coded preconnects: one 200' 2-1/2" blitz crosslay, one 200' 1-3/4" crosslay, and one 100' 1-3/4" front trash line. Tanker 1 is currently in service and operates out of the Central Fire Station. Its Capital Area CRC radio ID will be Tanker 2661.

Leander is located 24 miles northwest of Austin, Texas in Williamson County. We are a combination volunteer/career department of 40 men and women protecting approximately 50 square miles with a population of 15,000. Williamson County is currently one of the top five fastest-growing counties in the nation.
