unit image

The Laurel Fire Department is pleased to have placed in service a 2001 Pierce Lance Heavy Rescue.

The chassis features a Series 60 Detroit Diesel motor and an Allison HD4060P transmission, with a 269.5" wheelbase.

The body of the unit has a walk-in compartment to be used for Laurel's Dive team along with supplies for E.M.S. There is seating capacity for eight.

Some of the many resources on this unit are a 40KW Onan generator, Six bottle cascade for high and low pressure, a Frame derrick that can be assembled from the front for lifting or stabilization, a roll-up awning for rehab and a rear mounted oil dry hopper that dispenses stay-dry from a chute at the rear of the vehicle.

This unit is also equipped with a Will-Burt Night Scan light tower and a full compliment of Holmatro Rescue Tools.

Potomac Fire Equipment Co., of Hebron, Maryland represented Pierce Manufacturing in this project.

The new truck replaces a 1983 G.M.C./Saulsbury that had served Laurel for almost twenty years and was sold to the Goldsboro, Maryland Fire Company.
