Four Florida fire departments combined forces to extinguish a two alarm fire in Fort Walton Beach.
Seven engine companies from four departments responded to a single-family
dwelling on Robinwood Drive in Fort Walton Beach, Florida around 10:15 on
Dec. 15th.
FWB Battalion 6 (Shannon Stone) was first on the scene and reported smoke
showing. He requested a second alarm when he was advised of the possibility
of occupants still in the house. A search by Fort Walton Beach E-6, using
the Cairns Iris, quickly determined there were no one left in the dwelling.
The fire which apparently originated in a back bedroom quickly made it's way
into the attic. Interior firefighting efforts were hampered by the complex
interior arrangement of the remodeled home. High winds in the area also
made ventilation difficult.
Units from Fort Walton Beach, Ocean City-Wright, Okaloosa Island, and Mary
Esther Fire Departments responded.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Florida State Fire
Marshall's Office.
