At the height of rush hour Chicago firefighters were called to this 2 1/2 story building fire on the far Northwest side. Upon arrival, they discovered that the fire had a good hold on the rear of the 1st and 2nd floors.
The building was an occupied wood frame dwelling. One occupant was thought to be trapped inside, but after an aggressive search no one was found.
Eventually, the fire consumed the entire structure and then an aerial pipe was utilized for knockdown.
This was a still alarm assignment consisting of 2 engines, 2 trucks, a squad company, an ambulance and battalion chief. Members faced deep snow, frozen hydrants and severe temperatures.
