RI Firefighters Battle 2 Alarm Fire

Photos By: Dan Rinaldi
Story By: Tim Delaney

Just after 5:00 am on Sunday, October 15, firefighters from Providence, MA recieved a call for a structure fire in the area of Prarie Ave. and Public St.

Engine 10 arrived within minutes to find the rear 2nd and 3rd floors of 370 Public Street to be fully involved.

An aggressive interior attack was initiated but was quickly abandoned due to the amount of fire and the danger of collapse of the fire building.

Numerous heavy stream appliances and 2 tower ladders were set up for defensive operations.

Shortly thereafter the third floor collapsed, giving companies better access to the interior of the building.

Eventually a second alarm was transmitted for manpower.

The cause of the fire is listed as suspicious due to the fact that the house was vacant for some time.
