On September 10th, 2000 the local chapter of the Mexican Red Cross responded to an accident with one trapped in Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, México.

The recently formed rescue squad arrived on scene and found a 1983 Cheverolet Blazer with extensive damage to the drivers side and a 23 year old man pinned in the wreckage.

The 23 years old man was trapped for 30 minutes under the dashboard, the left door and the brake and clutch pedals, the foot of the patient was also trapped on a ripped hole of the floor of the vehicle and for one side of the transmission, which was break inside the vehicle.

The rescue squad was called from a ceremony where the local Lions Club was donating the hand tools for the rescue truck, these hand tools were an instrumental in freeing the trapped occupant because the squad only has one Amkus combination tool.

The patient was directed to a hospital where he underwent emergency surgery to remove his spleen and repair other injuries.
