Texas House Fire

Story by Will Wyatt
Photos by Will Wyatt and Lon Squyres

On March 25, 2001 at 06:28 a house fire was reported in the 1200 block of Bank St. in the Galena Manor section of Galena Park, Texas.

The Galena Park Fire Department responded as well as the Jacinto City Fire Department under an automatic response mutual aid agreement.

Galena Park Engine 3 arrived on the scene and was met with heavy fire and smoke conditions from a single story residence. It was quickly determined that the residents were not at home and under the direction of Galena Park Chief Paul Grider an interior attack was begun with 1 3/4" handlines.

Both departments quickly extinguished the fire in the living portion of the house as well as the attic which was also involved. The house sustained heavy damage as did a vehicle and boat in the driveway.

There were no injuries, and the fire is currently under investigation by the Harris County Fire Marshall's Office.
