Maryland Firefighters Extricate Two

Story/Photos by Pete Hammond

A Toyota convertible lost control and struck a stone gateway, trapping two. Shortly after being dispatched, Chief 1, Joe Slavitinek, of Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department, arrived and set up command.

The two patients were extricated by Rescue Squad 1 and treated on the scene by Howard County and Anne Arundel County EMS personnel.

The two patients, both teenagers, were transported to the Maryland shock trauma center in Baltimore City.

The airbags in the car did deploy, and it is believed that they prevented further trauma to both patients.

It appeared that neither teenager has any life threatening injuries.
