On Sep. 15, 2001. Dighton Firefighters were called to the Old Expo center to a pallet fire outside of the building.
The fire soon spread to the building and consumed it.
Firefighters declared a general alarm bringing more then a dozen departments from around the county.
The lack of good pressure and limited hydrants caused for the call of a tanker task force.
Additional companies were brought to the scene when the OIC called 2 structural tasks forces as well.
Firefighters were on scene the following day dousing hot spots.
