A Longport volunteer firefighter is recovering after he collapsed at the scene of a house fire on March 13 and was revived with an AED, according to the Shore News Today.

Rescue workers used an automated external defibrillator to revive Capt. Richard Hirsch, 58, who suffered the medical emergency while battling the morning blaze in the 2800 block of Atlantic Avenue.

He collapsed and stopped breathing after exiting the structure, Chief Lavon "Lefty" Clayton told the newspaper.
