NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Three firefighters will begrudgingly shut down the Geneva fire station Friday night and retreat to the town's other firehouses, ending a firefighting operation that began more than a century ago in the old mill village.
The men aren't happy to say goodbye and their union tried unsuccessfully to head off the shutdown in Superior Court.
